This is a planning range, subject to your hotel address, traffic, reservations and pace. The final quote confirms your itinerary and reserved hours.
Choose the order of visits around each château’s opening arrangements and your reservations.
Allow a focused interior visit and time for a selected outdoor walk.
Continue to Maincy for the château and a garden route suited to your walking pace.
Keep an agreed departure margin for the road journey back to your hotel.
Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte make sense together when you want to compare two different estates rather than collect château names. Fontainebleau is the royal-residence stop; Vaux-le-Vicomte, in the commune of Maincy, adds an estate where the relationship between house and formal garden is central to the visit. Private transport connects the two without requiring you to arrange each leg separately.
An 8–10-hour day is a proposed planning range from your Paris hotel and back. It depends on the pickup address, traffic, visit bookings and how much time you want outdoors. Two château visits suit visitors happy to keep a defined pace. If you prefer long lunches or detailed room-by-room visits, choose one estate as the day's focus.
The Fontainebleau tourism office's visitor information notes the château's usual Tuesday closure. Check the selected date before reserving transport. A date that works for Fontainebleau must also work for the programme you want at Vaux-le-Vicomte.
Use Vaux-le-Vicomte's official opening calendar for ordinary visits and events. Candlelit evenings have their own dates and reservation conditions; they are not a standard afternoon activity or an every-weekend guarantee. An evening visit requires a different return plan and should be requested explicitly.
| Your priority | Suggested programme | What to leave out |
|---|---|---|
| Compare château interiors and gardens | Fontainebleau, lunch, Vaux-le-Vicomte | A third village or château visit |
| Spend more time at Fontainebleau | Château, selected grounds, relaxed lunch | The second château |
| Combine palace history and a village | Fontainebleau and a Barbizon stop | Vaux-le-Vicomte |
| Attend a Vaux evening event | A schedule built around the booked event | An ordinary early return to Paris |
Barbizon is a replacement for the second château, not an extra obligation. This variant may appeal if some passengers prefer a village walk to a second set of interiors. Keep the lunch location close to the chosen route so the meal does not become another transfer.
Each château involves walking independently of the car journey. Garden paths can add considerably to the distance, while historic interiors may include steps. Choose the garden circuit according to the group, not simply the furthest viewpoint. Vaux-le-Vicomte describes uneven paving, gravel and historic-building access constraints in its official practical information.
Share mobility requirements before booking so the chosen areas can be checked directly with the venues. For children, one substantial château visit with a lunch break may be easier than two long indoor tours. Passenger ages and child-seat requirements help us plan the transport; venue rules and family admission remain separate considerations.
Ask for hotel pickup, the preferred estate order and a realistic collection time after each visit. A chauffeur is responsible for the road itinerary; a historical guide, admission tickets and meals are separate unless the written quote states otherwise. No special-entry arrangement is implied by travelling privately.
For transport only, see Paris to Fontainebleau. Compare Versailles for a single large estate or Chantilly for a shorter castle-and-art outing. Browse all day trips from Paris before sending your date, hotel and passenger details.
A focused two-château itinerary can be proposed over 8–10 hours from Paris. Opening dates, traffic and your preferred visit pace determine feasibility. A single château with lunch is a more relaxed alternative.
The château normally closes on Tuesdays. Check the official visitor information for your travel date before booking; we can discuss a different date or a Vaux-le-Vicomte-focused programme subject to its calendar.
Barbizon is best treated as a replacement for the second château visit. Candlelit evenings require an eligible event date, separate tickets and a later transport schedule; combining every option may require a longer booking.
The core enquiry is private chauffeur transport. Admission, guiding, lunch and any event tickets are separate unless specifically listed in the written quote. Share walking limitations because access varies within these historic estates.
Send your date, Paris hotel and passenger count. Add the stops that matter most, any existing reservations, children’s ages and guide or access needs in the journey notes. We review the schedule and vehicle availability before sending a written proposal.
The hours below are a starting point for your request. Adjust them to your plans; they do not reserve a fixed package. Tickets, tastings, guides, meals and accommodation are separate unless listed in your confirmation.
